Prince Rogers Nelson, dit Prince, né le 7 juin 1958 à Minneapolis (Minnesota) et mort le 21 avril 2016 à Chanhassen (Minnesota), est un auteur-compositeur-interprète, multi-instrumentiste, producteur, danseur et acteur américain. Il a exploré durant sa carrière une grande variété de styles musicaux, de la pop au funk en passant par le rock ou le RnB. La carrière de Prince démarre en 1978 et sa discographie compte plus de trente album studio parus en un peu moins de quarante ans. Il a aussi composé des chansons et produit des albums pour d'autres artistes, parmi lesquels les Bangles, Chaka Khan, Patti LaBelle, Madonna, Sheila E., Mavis Staples ou The Time. Multi-instrumentiste – il pratique une vingtaine d'instruments, excellant notamment à la guitare, à la basse, au piano, à la batterie et aux claviers – Prince s'est forgé une aura de créateur ambitieux, éclectique, et une réputation scénique hors pair en affectionnant danser et les solos.
